Lib Dems campaigning for improvements at Morpeth Station

Morpeth Liberal Democrat councillors continue to campaign along with local rail user group SENRUG to make Morpeth Station better for passengers and for more integrated local public transport provision. The station, particularly the northbound platform, does not comply with regulations to allow proper access for people with disabilities. With increasing numbers of people using the station, car parking has become very difficult due to inadequate provision and poor management. Also, buses do not stop at the station which means that passengers have to walk some distance. Liberal Democrats continue to press for improvements in relation to all of these issues and are pleased that Network Rail is now planning 120 extra car park spaces at the Station. It will however be important to make sure that rail passengers get priority use of the enlarged station car park.
