Voting for the vacant Morpeth South Ward seat on Morpeth Town Council take place on Thursday, 23rd June.
Ed Hillier will be the Liberal Democrat candidate in this by-election. He lives in Morpeth South with his wife and three young children. Ed, a secondary schoolteacher, is already active in the local community and passionate about Morpeth. Being elected as a Town Councillor would allow Ed to get more involved and help residents with local issues. The environment and improvements in local facilities are particular areas that Ed feels strongly about and where his skills and experience can make a strong contribution.
Ed says: "I was delighted to be selected as the Lib Dem candidate in this by-election. The Town Council has a crucial role to play in the future of Morpeth. We need to build on the good work that has already been done by the Town Council and continue to make improvements across the town. I know these are challenging times financially and at a national level the Lib Dems have had to play a part in making really tough decisions. It is important to remember though that this is a local election and the Lib Dem's record in the town over many years speaks for itself. I would like to be given the chance to play my part in continuing this good work and making Morpeth even better."
Local councillor David Parker, says: "I know that this is a particularly difficult time for people, but I do encourage residents to turn out and vote in this local by-election. The Town Council has a crucial role to play in supporting our local community and improving Morpeth for the future. Your Liberal Democrat councillors have an excellent track record in standing up for local people on key issues, for example housing proposals by developers and we do our best to keep in touch regularly all the time not just when there is an election. It is vitally important that we elect the right people to act as our local representatives and I think that Ed Hillier will make an excellent councillor and can make a strong contribution to the work of Morpeth Town Council. Please turn out and support Ed in this by-election.
